The purpose of IHMS Ed Fund is to enhance the education at Iron Horse Middle School by funding programs/areas that are not adequately supported by the district budget.
How will my donation be used? Your donations will go directly toward paying for additional teacher time. We reduce class sizes by paying the district for additional “teacher sections”, with each "section" being the cost to hire one teacher for one period. As enrollment drops in our district, so does the number of teacher hours funded for our school. Without this funding, Iron Horse may have to cut electives or increase class sizes for required subjects. More teacher sections equals more flexibility in scheduling and more available subjects for your student.
This year, the Ed Fund has committed to funding nine (9) teacher sections, as well as employee for the wellness center. This allows for nine additional classes spread across several different subjects.
We ask every family to contribute $400 per student.
In addition to these sections, your donations will support students through our teacher grant program. Ed Fund grants allow teachers and staff to acquire needed materials for their classrooms. In the past, we were able to provide funds for professional development, classroom books, art projects, additional library databases, and elective support, among other items.
Please give now, if you can, as registration is our main source of funding for the year. Other ways to continue to support the IHMSEF throughout the year are through your employer's Corporate Match program.
